10-12-05: Empty Promises

Lots of changes coming. The Editorial Page is up to date, and you can expect it to update on a weekly basis from now on.

Whisper World is also getting a makeover, so you can expect to see some new content with mind-blowing features and graphics very soon. Seriously, you’ll pop right out of your chair. People will be running naked in the street screaming “everything I know is a lie!” It will change the way the world sees itself forever.

New episodes of our podcast programs are on the way, too. The Dark Crazy show is scaling down to a more downloadable half-hour format, and that should be ready in the next week or so. New “Cooler Than You” and “A Kindness of Strangers” episodes are also in the works. Watch out for our 1940’s-style serial, “The Adventures of the Patriotic Paragon, America’s Most Concerned Citizen!”, set to begin this weekend. I'm also doing a new segment called "This week in Angst", which pretty much just bags on the teeny-bopper melodrama shows I watch on the WB. That should run in ten minute episodes, I think, and will be available on www.darkcrazy.libsyn.com very soon.

Special thanks to the folks at the Dreaming Methods site, too, for our first official reciprocal link.

Remember if you have any comments you’d like to see on our Feedback forum, send them in. If you have any work you’d like to put up, we’ll be happy to take consider your submissions. Or if you want to e-mail me directly, that’s cool, too.

Thanks for stopping by!

New Film Venture Embarks on Digital Project

Mile Zero Films, a new enterprise founded by Sean Gilbert, Jason Wilson and

Tommy Butler is nearing completion on its first digital short, The Baldwin Effect. Shot in Carrollton, Georgia with Gilbert and Butler in front of the cameras, Wilson directing and Atlanta actress Nuri Adams working in front of and behind the cameras, the short is a comedy about people adapting to the monotony of life in a small town.

Gilbert wrote the script and serves as producer, as well. It has been shot primarily at the Mellow Mushroom in Carrollton.

If you have work you'd like to submit, please contact us at mailto:submissions@darkcrazy.com. There is no fee to submit, and we don't pay anything for submissions, either, but if you're looking for an outlet to promote your work, we'd be happy to consider you as a contributor.

Your e-mail should be a cover letter which contains a brief description of yourself and your work as you'd like it presented on the site. For fiction and poetry (text only works), just copy and paste the text into the body of the e-mail beneath your cover letter. For artwork submissions, send image files as attachments. JPEGS are easiest, but we should be able to read just about any image format. Query specifically if you have audio or video you'd like to contribute.

If you already have a web site for your work, we'd be happy to create a link to your site. All we ask is a reciprocal link.

For anyone looking to submit to this site or any other publication, I can't stress enough the importance of first registering your work with the Copyright Office. Those forms and guidelines are available at http://www.copyright.gov/. This is the best way to protect your work from unlawful reproduction and distribution.
